Welcoming Words – Maritime Digitalization and Cooperation Across the Baltic Sea

Fintraffic VTS is committed to fostering collaboration among Baltic Sea maritime stakeholders. The organization aims to optimize maritime traffic and streamline logistics chains through digital technologies and facilitation.
Speaker: Olli Soininen, Head of Programs, Fintraffic VTS

Case Example: Digitalizing Port Processes

The Port of Lübeck, one of the most significant ports in the Baltic Sea, offers direct connections to rail and highway networks. It plays a pivotal role in merchant shipping in the Baltic Sea, particularly in Scandinavia. The Lübeck Port Authority, together with key stakeholders, is taking major steps to digitalize and optimize port and port call processes.
Speakers: Michael Siemensen, Strategische Hafenentwicklung, Port of Lübeck and Florian Richter, Haupthafenmeister, Port of Lübeck

Case Example: Experiences of the First Operational JIT Process in the Baltic Sea

Port of Gävle is an efficient intermodal logistics center, emphasizing sustainable, secure, and efficient logistics. Gävle was the first port in the Baltic Sea to implement a Just-In-Time (JIT) process operationally for a shared quay (operated by multiple terminals). This presentation will discuss what JIT entails, and the lessons learned so far.
Speaker: Linda Astner, Head of Sustainable Development, Port of Gävle

Introducing the Gravity Project – JIT for the Baltic Sea

Gravity is an EU project aimed at promoting JIT thinking and processes in the Baltic Sea Region. The project application includes nearly 100 stakeholders as development or supporting partners, encompassing all roles in maritime logistics.
Speaker: Maiju Kaski, Development Manager, Maritime Services, Fintraffic VTS

Case Example: Common Digital Tool in Ports – Does It Work?

Port of Kokkola, the third-largest general port in Finland, is a leader in digitalization. The port has renewed its berth planning process and overall digital situational awareness. This presentation will examine how the system works and how stakeholders were engaged.
Speaker: Tomas Mikkola, Harbour Master (PFSO), Port of Kokkola

Discussion: Host Petri Kalske, Head of Maritime Solutions, Fintraffic VTS
