Fintraffic ANS provides safe, accurate and competitive air navigation services in Finland. We are responsible for managing Finland’s airspace and providing en-route and air navigation services at 22 airports in Finland. We do not only control and direct air traffic in the Finnish airspace and in the airports, but we are also responsible for the necessary infrastructure, system design and system maintenance in accordance with international standards. Technical air navigation also encompasses the maintenance of radar, navigation equipment and radio equipment in the airport environment in Finland and technical maintenance services at five airports in Sweden. We also provide training and consulting services and services for drone pilots. In addition, we are in charge of special tasks relating to air rescue coordination and territorial surveillance.
Air Navigation Services
ATCC Finland coordinates overflights in Finnish airspace and air route traffic between different airports. The Helsinki air traffic control unit is responsible for aerodrome control and air traffic control services for approaches at Helsinki Airport. At network airports Fintraffic ANS provides air traffic services (air traffic control or flight information services) depending on the airport’s operating volume and/or the nature of its operations.
Technical air navigation comprises equipment, systems and tools used in air traffic service. These include information, radio and radar systems located across the country as well as equipment used by aircraft for navigation and landing.

Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) takes care of the operation of the international aeronautical information system in Finland. Information system ensures the necessary flow of information for the safe, regular and economic operation of international and domestic air traffic.
When flying a remotely piloted aircraft or a model aircraft weighing more than 250 g based on a visual line of sight in the vicinity of airports, you need to check whether flying the drone requires permission from the air traffic services.
