Road weather

Our road weather service continuously produces up-to-date information on weather and road conditions. Information is collected nationwide with approximately 450 road weather stations and over 1,000 weather cameras.

The information collected is utilised especially in road maintenance, where the importance of road condition information is emphasised especially during the winter season. In road winter maintenance, the data provided by road weather stations and weather cameras and weather forecasts are followed continuously. Based on the data, it is possible to anticipate the best times for anti-skid treatment or optimise the salting needs. 

Up-to-date information on road conditions is also utilised by Fintraffic's Road Traffic Centre when it communicates about poor driving conditions and controls speeds in the areas with changing speed limits.
