Traffic measurement

Without exception, the development of the functionality and safety of traffic environments is built on data. 

We conduct thousands of traffic measurements at the national level every year. Our service functions as a basis for traffic planning, which needs data for the construction and maintenance of the road network and for research and development of traffic flows. 

General traffic calculations are carried out throughout the country on state-owned road networks, which total approximately 78,000 km. Overall, 15,000 calculation points are used for general traffic calculations around Finland, of which approximately 3,000 points are calculated annually. 

In addition to general traffic calculations, we also produce continuous information on traffic volumes, flow and speeds at point-like measurement points on Finland’s main road network.
