TMC positioning nomenclature
The RDS-TMC (Traffic Message Channel) is a road traffic information service that transmits traffic announcements with the RDS technology used in conjunction with analogue radio broadcasts. Traffic announcements contain useful and up-to-date information on road works, accidents, congestion and road conditions. The use of press releases requires TMC/ALERT-C material, the maintenance and distribution of which in Finland is the responsibility of Fintraffic Road, a subsidiary of Fintraffic. The TISA Forum is responsible for the development of TMC.
Downloads
The Finnish positioning nomenclature database is continuously maintained and certified annually by the TISA Forum. The most recent certified version is available for download Digitraffic here.
The TMC names used by Fintraffic Road Ltd in traffic communications are updated several times a year, i.e. also between certifications. If necessary, uncertified interim versions can be downloaded here. The structure of uncertified material differs somewhat from the structure of a certified publication - structural differences are recorded in a separate document. The documentation can be downloaded here.
LAM data
Fintraffic Road collects information on road traffic using automatic traffic measuring stations (LAM). Data is shared in both a raw format and as ready reports. There are currently approximately 500 active LAM points in Finland.
Real-time measurement data is available From the Digitraffic service on the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency's website.
