Maritime traffic

Maritime traffic and other waterborne traffic services

Operators must publish maritime and inland waterborne passenger services, such as ferry and commuter ferry services, in the FINAP service. Data on services can be saved either as regular routes and scheduled services or as chartered services. A maritime and waterborne traffic service should be saved as chartered traffic if the connection operates only upon a separate reservation, notification or order. Otherwise, the traffic service will be considered to be regular.

Maritime traffic data can be saved in the service by creating a service provider (e.g., Oy Limited Liability Company Ab) and by adding the offered passenger traffic or passenger traffic/goods transport connection offering under the service provider. The operator must indicate in the service, e.g., the exact prices and booking and payment data. The operator must also indicate the route, timetable, price and payment interfaces used by the service if the operator has published the relevant interfaces. Ferry and commuter ferry services can be digitised in the service by anyone using the MeriRAE service, which enables the integration of waterborne traffic connections into multimodal journey planners. MeriRAE produces digitisation data using the internationally supported GTFS standard, which the service provider is free to use in their other business as well.
