Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services’ consulting and expert services 

Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services also provides other services related to ATS units. 

Laser statements

Laser statements are provided based on a customer request as a case-by-case service. Under section 159 of the Aviation Act (864/2014), an operator planning outdoor laser operations must notify Fintraffic Air Navigation Services Ltd of the planned laser activity, which will then assess the impact of the laser on air traffic. Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services issues these statements based on a customer request. The request must be submitted to Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services at least 10 weeks before the planned date of the activity. In expedited processing, the request must be submitted to Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services at least 4 weeks before the planned date of the activity.

Designating a temporary danger area for unmanned aviation

Temporary danger areas are designated based on a customer request as a case-by-case service. The Airspace Management Cell (AMC) designates danger areas for a maximum of two weeks in accordance with section 11 of the Aviation Act and the conditions specified in section 3.10.2 of the ASM Operations Manual.

Assessments of other activities hazardous to aviation

Assessments are provided based on a customer request as a case-by-case service. Under section 159 of the Aviation Act (864/2014), operators planning activities that may pose a hazard to aviation (e.g. large-scale blasting near an airport) to Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services, which will carry out an assessment on the effects of the activities to air traffic. Fintraffic Air Navigation Services Ltd carries out these assessments on request from the customer. The request must be submitted to Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services at least 4 weeks before the planned date of the activity.

Permission for flying a drone near an airport

Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services Ltd’s units process requests for drone flying permission submitted by customers, if the drone operator plans to fly their drone near an airport in an area in which the aviation regulation OPS M1-32 requires that such activities are agreed in advance with the air traffic service provider.

Drone geofencing dismantling

Geofencing is dismantled based on a customer request as a case-by-case service. An air navigation service provider can dismantle geofencing within the scope of its operating licence (see point 1), but in other cases the request must be submitted to the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency. The request must be submitted to Fintraffic’s Air Navigation Services at least 4 weeks before the planned flight.

Other statements and expert services

Other reports, document requests or requests for archived information are made upon separate request and invoiced according to hours spent. For example, Fintraffic's Air Navigation Services may disclose archived information upon a request from a customer (if legislation on information disclosure does not state otherwise).
