Validation and conversion service

The application https://validator.fintraffic.fi/ (VACO) is intended for the validation and conversion of statutory data publications under the EU Multimodal Regulation (MMTIS) and the Act on Transport Services. Validation ensures that the published materials meet the requirements of the MMTIS Regulation and the Act on Transport Services and that they are interoperable. An integrated traffic service catalogue has been built of the service in Finap, where published travel information is automatically validated. Data quality in Finap is also made visible by "stamping" data publications on the basis of their validated quality. At the same time, conversions are made between GTFS and NeTEx travel data standards.

VACO produces a validation report for each GTFS or NeTEx travel dataset published in Finap. This result is visible in connection with the interfaces published in the Finap user interface. If there are errors in your material or you do not have an interface for essential information in the publication, the information must be corrected as quickly as possible and submitted to Finap for publication. The validation report supports operators in developing and correcting their material publications. VACO also publishes data conversion in Finap mainly to data in NeTEx format, if the operator does not already publish such data. Finland and other European countries are gradually transitioning to the use of NeTEx and SIRI travel information. For further information on the requirements and example materials please see the Fintraffic website https://www.fintraffic.fi/fi/fintraffic/tiedon-tuottajien-ohjeistukset

VACO is based on open source code and tested validation rules, which have been built by Mobility Data, which develops the GTFS standard, and Entur, the original developer of NeTEx Nordic.

This website contains the guidelines for the use of the VACO application and other support material for the application. If you have any questions about the service or are interested in using the validation service, for example through an interface, please contact us by email nap(at)fintraffic.fi

A short user manual provides instructions on how to register for the VACO app, and a long guide also provides more detailed instructions on how to use the various features of the service. The utilisation of VACO requires logging in or registering for the service. Validation reports can also be accessed directly through Finap without a separate login.
