Demand responsive traffic (DRT)

Saving demand responsive traffic data (DRT)

Demand responsive traffic services” can also be submitted to the FINAP service. Demand responsive traffic and demand responsive public transport are part of public and private service providers’ traffic services offering. Demand responsive traffic is more flexible than traditional scheduled and routed public transport, and the service can be adapted to provide traffic services to special groups, small urban areas or rural areas.

Demand responsive traffic services can be saved in the FINAP service as traffic that does not follow an exact timetable or route and also as a traffic service that follows a regular route and timetable upon order. The authority or operator purchasing the traffic service must publish the required service information in the FINAP service and also publish any order, payment and price interfaces. You can find instructions for making a notification of a demand responsive traffic service on this website.

The process of saving demand responsive traffic and publishing material was updated in 2022. In addition to the general-purpose interface that may be provided by the service provider, the demand responsive traffic services described in the service are published in GTFS Flex and GeoJSON formats. Using the GTFS Flex standard supports the integration of submitted services into journey planners, for example.

You can find more detailed descriptions of the methods of saving demand responsive traffic data in the Finap service’s general instructions (LINK, in Finnish)
