Companies providing transport services or municipalities or other authorities organising them must report their essential travel information to the Traffic Service Catalogue operated by Fintraffic. In addition to taxi and public transport operators, the obligation also applies to other traffic service providers, such as city bike systems, car sharing services, parking services or even electric scooter operators.
Detailed instructions on how to report the traffic service to the NAP traffic service catalogue can be found on its instructions pages.
Information on the required static or real-time travel information and its metadata must be published in Finap.fi. Travel data published in the service must comply with the NeTEx tai SIRI as required in the EU MMTIS Regulation or with the GTFS / GBFS data models maintained by international organisation Mobility Data.
Publishing the required data type (e.g. routes, timetables, prices, real-time public transport stop forecasts) must be done directly to the interface, that is publishing the data, the file location or, alternatively, to a third party developer service (API management or similar). If you are unsure of what information should be published and how, contact us by email nap(at)fintraffic.fi.
If the data provider wants their travel information to be visible automatically in Digitransit-based services (journey planners, public transport stop displays) or in international travel information services (e.g. Google or Apple), static travel information must always be published as updated packages (GTFS or NeTEx) and real-time content (GTFS RT or SIRI) directly from the source addresses in Finap.fi
In early 2024, Fintraffic will publish a national validator and conversion service for travel data. All travel data published in the NAP Catalogue (Finap.fi) are validated and, if necessary, the data providers are automatically instructed to correct their publications. A national validator is also available for manual data packet-based material production development. The validator will be published as open source code for the utilisation and further development of the data ecosystem.
Fintraffic plans to implement a single national access point for all transport service and transport information providers. For the time being, travel information on transport services is published in Finap.fi, and for other traffic information on the Digitraffic.fi website.
