Electric scooters now included in the opas.matka.fi journey planner

Electric scooters can now be found in the opas.matka.fi journey planner. In the early stages, users can search for scooters on routes in the HSL area for those operators that have provided scooter location and reservation information for journey planners. As safety is top priority for Fintraffic, we would like to remind you of the importance of observing traffic rules. When renting an electric scooter, always make an effort to ensure your own safety and that of your fellow travellers with responsible traffic behaviour.

How to include electric scooters in journey planning

You can access the settings from the menu found in the opas.matka.fi route suggestion view next to the departure time selection.

After making the selection, opas.matka.fi will display electric scooters as alternative means of transport as part of route suggestions when planning your journey. Electric scooters are shown on the map and you can check their location and availability in real time. You can identify scooters by the grey scooter symbol.

You can easily combine an electric scooter with your public transport journey, making your journey more flexible.

Safety first!

Please note that scooters must be reserved and paid for in each operator's own app. The availability of scooters may also change, so the proposed route may not be possible.

We would also remind you that safety is always a priority, so please ensure that you comply with traffic rules. For example, the City of Helsinki recommends using a helmet when riding an electric scooter.

Fintraffic and HSL are not liable for electric scooters, how well they function or for damage caused by their use. The journey planner only provides information on the availability and location of scooters. This means you are responsible for ensuring safety in traffic!

The Road Traffic Act treats electric scooters as bicycles. Therefore, park in the direction of the traffic route and as close to the side as possible. Under the Road Traffic Act, an electric scooter may be parked or stopped on a pavement or a cycling path, but in a manner that ensures it does not interfere with traffic and mobility. For example, in the centre of Helsinki, scooters must be parked in areas marked for them. As the service expands to other cities, please take note of local parking guidelines.
