Improving the alternative route of the Vuosaari road tunnel: Short stops in traffic at Kallvikintie and Niinisaarentie roundabout from 13 November 2024
Small-scale excavation work along the alternative route of the Vuosaari road tunnel will occasionally stop traffic at the Kallvikintie and Niinisaarentie roundabout starting from 13 November 2024. The stops will be short, no longer than three minutes.
Traffic will be stopped for both car traffic as well as pedestrians and cyclists. Excavation work is carried out on weekdays between 8:30 and 18:00, excluding the afternoon rush hour 14:30–17:30. The traffic will be halted for a maximum of three minutes at a time. The excavation work is estimated to last approximately one month.
One new lane and bus stop will be built at the Kallvikintie and Niinisaarentie roundabout.
The work requires removing some rock, which will be done by blasting. The roadworks will cause minor noise disturbance.
Improved alternative route serves as a detour during Vuosaari tunnel renovation
The alternative route for Vuosaari road tunnel on the section Itäväylä–Kallvikintie–Niinisaarentie–Vuosaari Harbour will be improved during late 2024 and spring 2025. The current route improvement aims at preparing for the extensive renovation of the Vuosaari road tunnel starting in 2025. The tunnel will be closed to traffic for about a year. During this time, the alternative route is used as a detour.
